Delwest’s Own Craig Fitchett Featured on “Gentrification or Revitalization?” Panel

In Life in Denver, News, Press

Craig Fitchett, Director of Acquisitions & Business Development at Delwest, was a featured speaker on the Denver Metro Association of Realtors’ May 22nd panel, “Gentrification or Revitalization?” Held at the PPA Event Center in Jefferson Park, the panelists debated the differences between revitalization and gentrification — most notably in relation to Denver and its ever-changing neighborhoods.

Denverite’s coverage of the event quoted Craig as saying: “I’d like to see affordable, with some semblance of attainable ownership, affordable rentals, attainable ownership and market-rate rentals all in the same community. I’d like to give people a pathway out of the affordable world into the market-rate world.”

Craig’s dedication to the people of Denver is reflected in his work at Delwest, where he focuses on identifying innovative infill and transit-oriented development (TOD) opportunities that might serve to address the vital need for more affordable housing in the Denver metro area. He also has forged several partnerships with non-profits and housing authorities to develop and deliver “wrap around” anti-poverty services to residents living in Delwest affordable housing locations. In the last two years alone, Craig has helped add nearly 300 new LIHTC (Low-Income Housing Tax Credit) apartment units to the market. Today, he is developing more than 280 LIHTC units anticipated to hit the market in 2019. Upon completion, these newly built affordable homes are estimated to house more than 1,000 needy Coloradoans.

Craig also spearheaded a new partnership between the Westminster Public Schools Foundation and Delwest to provide donations upon every new home closing in Clear Lake, Delwest’s latest new homes development.
